Is Volvo’s Classic 940 the Best Car for Teens?

Back when the BBC’s Top Gear was the #1 car show on TV, the show’s presenters- Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond- set off to answer a common question: What is the best car for teenage drivers?

Among the choices was a 1996 Volvo 940 Turbo wagon and a badly-modified Hyundai Scoupe. I only mention the Scoupe because my first new car was a 1994 Hyundai Scoupe– and it was just as bad as Top Gear makes it out to be, traveling a mere 43,000 miles over five years before eventually being trashed due to various fuel injection problems.

That 1996 Volvo, however? It’s probably still going strong- even after the Top Gear teenage torture test! You can watch the Volvo’s Top Gear segment in the video, below. Enjoy!

I've been in and around the car industry for over twenty years. Sometimes racing, sometimes selling, sometimes fixing- sometimes, even just washing!- but Cars and Trucks and Things That Go are what I'm all about.
