Video: Somebody Loved this Volvo V70

Volvo Banner Ad VOP

I love Volvo cars, obviously. I mean, I’ve taken some serious steps over the last few years to make Volvo culture my living, if not my life. I loved my XC70, and still feel a bit guilty for trading it in on a new XC90 a few weeks back. But– do you know who really loves their Volvo? Joel Gregg.

Joel really loves his Volvo. Looking at pictures of his meticulously cared-for 1999 Volvo V70 rally wagon, I have to admit that I kind of love it, too. But this isn’t a happy story, as far as I can tell, because I found this particular race-replica Volvo wagon on eBay. And it was for sale. Cheap.

As far as I can tell, the auction has long since ended and the car didn’t sell. That’s either great news or terrible news for Joel, but he hasn’t responded to my inquiry to let me know. As such, all I have about this car is his original ad (which I reproduced, below) and a short video highlighting the tons and tons of work that went into making Joel’s rally wagon into something really special.

Check out the video and the photo gallery– and maybe the original ad, if you’re so motivated– then let me know what you think of Mr. Gregg’s one-of-a-kind 1999 Volvo V70 rally in the comments section at the bottom of the page.

This tears my heart apart, but it’s time to say goodbye. There are too many options and upgrades to list and way more has been invested in this beauty than will ever be recouped. Comes with 17″ Nokian snow tires on black Enkei alloy rims (not pictured). Every mechanical issue has been sorted out and all electrical systems work as they should. Nothing is required but a new passionate driver! Stickers can all be removed, but why?!

No accidents. Clean title. Maintenance records available since 2013. Virtually every part/system has been replaced/upgraded. Runs strong, drives straight, no cracks or chips in windshield. No rips or tears in upholstery or headliner. Never smoked in or driven by smokers. Front brakes and rotors just replaced. Daily driver. Frequent positive reaction from fellow motoring enthusiasts.
