The all-new for 2019 Volvo S60 finally brings the brand’s sexy new design language to its bread-and-butter 60 series cars, giving it a direct competitor to the BMW 3 series and Mercedes C class that it hasn’t really had the last few years. Part of this is the car’s styling, but just as important is the new S60’s price– a price that’s made possible, in some part, because of where the car is made: it’s Made in the USA.
The new S60 is the first Volvo to be manufactured in the United States, at the brand-new $1.2 billion manufacturing campus Volvo recently opened in rural Berkeley County, South Carolina. Volvo has plans to start building its flagship XC90 in the SC plant, eventually. For now, though, the focus is to get production of the S60– and its wagon variant, the V60— off the ground without a hitch.
